Ensemble Mélange, formerly known as SHUFFLE Concert, is a joyful sextet of all-star virtuosos. Ensemble Mélange shakes up the concert experience, forges a personal connection with concertgoers, and cocoons tried-and-true repertoire in a kaleidoscopic smorgasbord of unexpected jewels from distant genres. Reformatting the concert as a party game, between numbers, members of the audience are chosen to pick the next piece from a massive program organized by style, nationality, and time period. Whether you’re a purist or a populist, a snob or a noob, you’ll leave charmed and drunk on something you didn’t know you were going to love. With a special earmarked fund for performances in underprivileged schools and a philosophical focus on outreach, the group is also bringing in the next generation of music lovers, as well as having good fun with the current one.

“To be in the room that evening, though, was to discover the tension and the drama of never knowing what’s next... As they played, they swayed... They moved as if the music were something they were riding atop, not creating.”
Anand Giridharadas, The New York Times
